Get Off The Couch!
My Philosophy On Becoming Proactive And Finding Motivation:
Do you have a goal? Do you have errands? Are you finally tired of living your life with the same pointless schedule for every single day? If you answered yes to any of those statements, let me help you out a little.
I understand that the process of seeking motivation isn’t completely easy and it’s all because of ourselves. Finding the incentives are only hard to find if we block ourselves from escaping a dejection. Our lives are a very serious issue. We’re all human with the same reactions and the same needs for wanting a better tomorrow. It would help tremendously to understand that sitting on a couch, watching videos and playing games on your cell phone will do absolutely nothing for the potential of your future. But you already know that, right? Of course you do.
There’s just something inside of us that blocks our highway to success that we cannot explain. Did you notice how I said “us”? That’s because you’re not alone in this. You’re never alone. There are countless others that sit all around the globe struggling in your exact position and can’t find a way to continue and it’s highly understandable. It’s almost like we’re each individually in rest-mode while our bodies update to slowly refresh like a computer after it crashes. We wait for the next burst of energy to happen in order for it to run out and fail again sometime soon. It’s what makes us human.
First of all, I can’t put myself into your position because I’ll never know what you go through on a daily basis. I don’t know what your childhood did to evolve you into who you are today and I don’t know what you have planned for yourself in the future. Mentally and/or physically, I don’t know how to even cope with what you have going on with your life because I’m not the one living it…But you are!
Understanding The Problem
I’m aware of the difficulty in getting interested about new things. Especially if removing yourself from the bed and taking a hot shower seems like a chore on its own. It took myself a great deal of time to finally understand that one day I’m going to work harder for what I want in order to meet my endgame goal and even thinking about doing more than what I had already planned to accomplish would soon drive me to wallow in bed longer. I was lazy. I didn’t want to work. And sometimes, I couldn’t even notice that what I was doing during this time was all wrong.
If you don’t have a plan for the future or dream goals that you’d love to one day pursue, What else could you possibly be doing for yourself? More importantly, Do you really want to live the rest of your life with no aspirations? I wouldn’t and I won’t.
I soon began to find things to interest me in life and capitalized on it while I still have the time. I’ve spent a long period of my time in life while writing about anything I could at a young age and as of right now, I’m only nineteen years old. I’m in no position to coach you on life decisions but I do have the power of my own motivational writings to influence an infinite amount of people who choose to come to me for answers and I absolutely love it.
When I had the motive to get into writing, I grew the excitement for my impending future. Eventually, my mind would drive back over to the bad side as I worried about having to study and work a lot for what I wanted. Friends and family will often give you the hard truth in saying things like: “That’s life” or “Life isn’t easy” and if you’re like me, then hearing things like this would only make you more depressed. The reality kicks in. You want to scream at the top of your lungs that not everything is as simple as what half of the world makes it out to be, yet you choose not to because you believe on some level you’re right but it’s possible they are too. I’ve learned a lot of this as I learned more about myself while discovering my own motivation and eventually noticed that I spent way too much time worrying instead of getting on my feet and doing what I needed to do.
In the past, I made the mistake of believing that finally becoming ambitious was a big step. I felt entitled to earning credit and respect from others, for simply and only having a plan for myself in the future. Discovering your intentions are very important; however, having ambition isn’t what makes you productive. Making the end-goal happen is what matters. I could talk all day about getting up and being inventive but if I have no actual effort into completing what I want to achieve, my intentions will serve no purpose and the objective stays on hold.
There’s not much left for me to explain to you. At some point, you’ll have to figure it out for yourself. Not me. Not your friends or family. Not a single soul will be able to tell you how to find your own motivation. As of right now, I’m simply making it my own personal job and mission for you to understand that finding motivation within yourself is very important as it is the only primary solution to getting what you need done, done.
Let’s go over some tips to find out what works best for you:
Tip One: “Time Is Of The Essence”
It’s time to take charge and you don’t have multiple years to make your choice. If you’ve been dwelling on making a major or even a minor decision, it is now time to make that decision a priority. Don’t let anything else block your path until this priority is finished. There’s obviously something you need to accomplish and it’s normal for us as humans to put it off by becoming lazy or making ourselves feel pressured into making certain decisions. This is okay! This is why you’re reading this article! We’re slowly starting to find that motivation to jumpstart your way into finishing -or maybe starting- what you need to get done and I’m here to help. While it is a good thing to finally make your decisions, this doesn’t mean to choose your answers in life on impulse. If you’ve been taking a break to clear your thoughts, I suggest using this time wisely before you speak and act on your next goal.
Think it over. Don’t over-think.

Tip Two: Escaping Anxiety & Procrastination
If you’ve organized a goal and still continue to stall, you might be suffering from some anxiety. Often times, a lot of procrastination comes from anxiety and it can be a real pain to get rid of. Some people even refuse to believe that they have anxiety at all which I find to be quite delusional. In my opinion, everyone has anxiety. We all get anxious making decisions. Even if it’s deciding to get out of bed or not. We‘re all completely oblivious and uncertain of what the future holds or what the rest of the day could have in store for us. Therefore, we stay inside and isolate because it’s the safer option rather than making a decision. Our homes and bedrooms are the solidarity in which we seek when we believe that the outside world is too risky to explore. One’s self can plan an entirety of the day and still have the time to lose the desire and end up delaying the objective.
It’s also possible to believe that your objective is simply easy to accomplish and it can be met at any time. I’ve wasted a lot of valuable time during this philosophy and I regret not making the move if I knew that my goal was already easy. Be careful while thinking this way. Something that appears easy could very well lead to becoming more difficult, now that you’re on borrowed time to finish something that you had all day to attain.
Don’t manipulate yourself into pushing your achievements out of reach. You’ll never get any amount of time in your life back after it’s gone.

Tip Three: Trial and Error
I’ve heard this method on so many occasions that if I had a dollar for every time it was mentioned, I’d be rich. Nonetheless, it is a true method that everyone must go through to find the key results. You’re craving that energy to become more productive and you need it immediately. I understand 100%!
I, along with everyone else in the world had to go through this (while some still do) until I was able to prosper. You may try exercising and you may try other things like coffee and energy drinks but it just never seems to work. This is why you branch out using the ‘Trial And Error’ until finding what works best.
If you’ve relied on things like caffeine to keep your mental state aloft, there’s your first mistake. I can guarantee that your physical body, along with a healthy mindset would thank you for taking a break from the sugar every once and awhile. It’s not my place to say what works best for you and if caffeine works, it works. But there are much better and healthier ways to keep your mind at ease to help finish your day. Trust me!
Don’t trick your mind into believing the easiest option is the right way to go. We lay on a couch and waste our lives away, drinking coffee, going to work and coming home to watch television just to do it all again tomorrow and it’s very common to cause a major downfall. We do these things because it’s easy. The problem is we don’t want to admit that there are better ways to succeed. Even if that means sacrificing yourself to work a little harder than you planned.
Finding the motivation that leads to your success will all start with ‘Trial And Error’. If exercising doesn’t work, you can try something else. Read a book or attempt going on a diet. Try waking up earlier than your normal sleep schedule and make it a priority to stand to your feet immediately after waking up (This lets yourself become ready and alarmed to start the day without letting the awareness of your bed, draw you to seek comfort over productivity).
Just take your time and find the finest and healthiest solution. Not the easiest!
Another helpful suggestion is to always stay ready to do the inevitable. If it’s your job to make something happen, it’s no one else’s fault but your own if the job goes unfinished.
Don’t be afraid to give your life a break. Just make sure to use it wisely. Take the time away from your screens and off the couch and realize that your life is so important with way too much potential to throw it all away for just 5 more minutes of sleep. Seize the day! Carpe diem! Chase. Your. Goal.
